Pepper Design Blog {don’t skip this post!! you’ll thank me later.}

For anyone that loved Domino Magazine, Pepper Design Blog is for you.  This stylish blog is a-maz-ing.  From entertaining to remodeling, this blog covers it all: and everything she features has the high style, classic-with-a -modern-twist look that mixes modern with vintage and affordable with pricey.  If navy is the new black, then Pepper Design Blog is the new Domino Magazine.  {I actually made up that navy is the new black because I love navy and it’s my blog so I can make these types of declarations.}

I was SO excited that she agreed to do a guest post on Freshmom!!!  Thank you, Morgan!!

Nesting Baby Shower – how creative! clever! adorable!  And these decorations are perfect for Easter, too!!

Nesting Baby Shower

Around this time last year, I threw a ‘nesting’ baby shower for a girlfriend of mine and I think it’s wonderful inspiration for a birthday, bridal or baby shower. The vintage/antique feel is timeless and we designed the entire shower around a very tight budget and plenty of thrift store finds.

Details included a handmade chandelier, paper flowers, no-sew table runners and napkins (all from fabric remnants), thrift store tea sets, hanging mason jars filled with sand and votives, book page bunting and wildflower-esq floral arrangements. We created two dessert bars: a chai tea, coffee & hot cocoa bar and a traditional dessert bar flanked in handmade paper rosettes, manzanita branches and take-away individual hot cocoa favors with handmade marshmallows.

Here are a few photos:

The rest of the photos, details and project ideas are at the following links – you HAVE to check it out. Seriously. You have to.

A little bit about Morgan, the designer blogger:

Living Sunny San Diego
Started blogging About a year and a half ago
She runs two (TWO!!!) businesses! I run a small marketing consulting firm, most of my clients being small to medium sized businesses that need online and paper marketing consutling on a weekly/hourly basis. Additionally, each day I work on both the business and blogging side of Pepper Design Blog and contribute as a monthly ‘At Home’ writer for our local San Diego Magazine. I have a few entrepreneurial endeavors coming down the pipeline but they won’t launch until later this year :).
How Morgan got into design I was recruited straight out of college by a business & technology consulting firm and worked in both supply chain management consulting and what we called training & change management for a couple of years before breaking out on my own. I began PDB as a creative venture of sorts to help balance out the very analytical day-to-day tasks of consulting – plus it was a way to keep family and friends up to speed on our home makeover process! The concept of Pepper actually began about nine months before the site launched and I used graphic design knowledge from college to help me program and design the site before it went live. My goal was to create a lively, user-friendly blog that would break out of the usual home-and-entertaining-design-blog box, and one that would combine all of my ‘creative’ loves: home design, entertaining inspiration, wardrobe finds and crafty solutions!
She’s a new mom, too! Olivia joined us just ten weeks ago on January 9.
Favorite baby product(s) I’m working on a post for this one as we speak :), but it’s safe to say that we have five or so MUST-have products that we use on a regular basis, including our favorite baby wrap, a pacifier that stays with Liv even when she spits it out (amazing) and a sleeping wrap that helped her to conquer sleeping through the night solidly by 8 weeks (and many nights earlier).
So go ahead. Check out the Pepper Design Blog.  What are you waiting for? Go!
