Kids Artwork Display [DIY]

My 2.5 year old is very proud of his artwork, and I wanted to find an attractive way to display it in our house – on a wall, not on the fridge.  I Pinterested it and found a few solutions, and merged a few of the ideas into this VERY simple project.  My plan is to let him choose which ones to hang when he brings home a new masterpiece.  I also take photos of each one which I will use in our annual Photo Book.

[DIY] Kids Artwork Display: What You’ll Need

What you’ll need:

  • Frames. The ones I chose from Michael’s were on sale (tip: visit their mobile site, click on weekly deals, then coupons, and a lot of them will show up. I saved 25% on the frames.) I chose the 14×18 frame matted to 11×14 inches.
  • Bulldog Clips.  That’s the technical term. Not “metal clip things” like I described to the lady at Michaels.  I had to go to OfficeMax to purchase them.  I got the ones with magnets so they would be easy to glue.
  • Super Glue.
  • Some sort of backing to add behind the matte. I used leftover Watercolor paper from a project from long, long ago.

How to create the kid’s artwork display:

1. Take the glass out of the frame, add some sort of a backing behind the matte (I used watercolor paper because I had some and it is thick.  You could just get matte cut for this.  I was too impatient to wait at the counter at Michael’s for this.)

2. Add the superglue to the back of the bulldog clip’s magnet.

3. Superglue the Bulldog Clip to the Matte.

4. Clip your child’s masterpiece to the frame!
