I joke that you’d think my husband was a triathlete if you viewed his collection of magazines, books, and documentaries. He loves cycling and running magazines, organic books, and anything related to the food industry. Also, lots of books & magazines about wine (both an interest and his job!!!!)
We started off 2012 vowing to get healthy this year and of course, go on a diet. Ugh, and I despise dieting. To inspire us, he talked me into watching a documentary a few weeks ago, which I mentioned in my New Year’s Resolutions post, called Forks Over Knives, which I really enjoyed and has encouraged me to eat more vegetarian. On a scale of 1 – 10, Will has scored a 10 on this little venture. I give myself a 7 because I haven’t totally cut out meat, but am certainly eating a lot healthier than I have in the past (which is the real goal). I NEVER ever EVER thought I’d consider being a vegetarian, and I’m still not, but these documentaries really present a very compelling case for a plant-based diet. Honestly, I really just want to fit into the clothes from my “skinny closet”.
Here are the documentaries we’ve watched & enjoyed so far:
- Forks Over Knives
- Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead
- Super Size Me
(I really REALLY didn’t want to watch this one, but actually liked it)
- Foodmatters
- Food Inc.
Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead and my friend Rachel have really made me consider getting this Breville Juicer:
So, if you’re into that whole organic, healthy lifestyle thing – those are the documentaries I recommend!!
