We celebrated Thomas’s 2nd birthday on Saturday. I’m glad we had his party a few weeks early because I’m complete denial that it’s been 2 entire years since he was teensy tiny newborn snuggling in my arms, and unable to roll over when I changed his diaper. Nope, in my mind, he’s still one and some change – he has NOT turned two yet! It is 2 weeks away.
Anyway, I planned (in my head) to have his birthday party after our trip to the Greenbrier at the end of the month – but our desired location, the Children’s Museum, was booked until April, and my only option was this past Saturday. Planning a February birthday limits our options to indoors (even though we had freakishly perfect weather on his first birthday, I decided not to tempt fate this year and wanted to plan the party in an indoor venue.)
So, my friends got a text message invitation (oh, the SHAME) instead of a cute invitation in the mail which set the party in motion. Last year, we planned a circus themed celebration and I spent a lot of time creating adorable decorations from a Dimpleprints printable. This year, I ran to the grocery store for snacks 30 minutes prior to the party. This was not my finest hour as an event planner.
Will was in charge of ordering cupcakes from our good friend Heidi at Croissants Bistro & Bakery – and they surprised me with these adorable cupcakes, which totally made the party!! And we had a great time. Thomas’s face was a cute shade of blue after enjoying his Cookie Monster Cupcake.
