Sidewalk Chalk: the way to a toddler’s heart.

Sidewalk chalk. It’s Thomas’s new passion, and this avant garde artist uses the world as his canvas. That’s not a metaphor. Front doors, cars, window boxes, pool decks, in-ground light fixtures, park benches, our dog Breaker, the walls in our house (ahem. someone wasn’t being vigilant), our neighbor’s sidewalk, and anything that can make contact with the chalk becomes a canvas for a brief moment of artistic inspiration until the next object that can be beautified with chalk art can be found.

I could try to pretend this is our neighbor’s window box but sadly it is ours. It needs some flowers!

  1. Sidewalk chalk is still a favorite at our house.  Though luckily now, it is generally used only on the sidewalk!   We even go “chalking” when friends spend the night — wait until dark and then write all sorts of nice comments on her / his front walk.  The kids love doing it to others and waking on Saturday to discover we’ve been chalked!

  2. Great! Maybe I’ll just go ahead and purchase the 60 pack from Amazon since it will be in our lives for a long time :) That is so cute about “chalking”!
