Tips for picking out the best stroller for you.
Picking out the perfect stroller can seem like a daunting task, but it really comes down to answering a few simple questions to help narrow down your stroller options:
- Are you a runner? Yes? Then, I suggest getting a jogging stroller. I personally wanted a jogging stroller until my mom made the blatant point, “you didn’t jog before you had a baby, and you won’t jog after you have the baby. You don’t need a jogging stroller.” She was right. I did walk our child, and you don’t need a jogging stroller for that!!
- Do you want to have a stroller that fits your infant carrier? These are great for the same reason the infant carrier car seat is a great option – if the baby is asleep, you won’t have to disturb him or her when you reach your destination. I think these systems are the most versatile – you can use the stroller with an infant carrier and then use as a regular stroller when the baby gets older.
- Do you want a lightweight, umbrella stroller that is easy to transport? We got the Macleran stroller for little excursions to keep in the car and loved it. These you will use when they are older and can sit up by themselves – not when they are infants.
All of my friends that are runners love the BOB stroller. It also has an attachment that will fit an infant carrier – so this is a very versatile stroller! They also said it’s very simple to collapse and unfold – which you’ll find is extremely important when you have one hand with which to tackle multiple tasks like unlocking the car, juggling a bottle/snack pack, baby, diaper bag, and possibly a few shopping bags. Uncomplicated strollers are your friend in the parking lot after a shopping excursion. Available in Myrtle Beach at The Kangaroo Pouch or online at Amazon.
Umbrella strollers are lightweight, less expensive strollers that are great for travel and keeping in your car. These aren’t excellent for taking long walks for exercise but they can efficiently navigate shopping centers, grocery stores, and other outings. They are not excellent on grass. We had this Maclaren Triumph Stroller and loved it – plus it’s just the preppiest and you can purchase all sorts of preppy patterns to make you a really stylish mama. Available in Myrtle Beach at The Kangaroo Pouch or online at Amazon.
All Purpose Stroller
We had the Peg-Perego Pliko P3 and loved it. It fit with our infant car seat and transitioned as he got older. This stroller is easy to collapse and unfold – and great to take everywhere (even through grassy fields if you’re at a park or a festival!) There is plenty of room for storage and it makes a great all purpose stroller. Also: it’s not a humongous size, so its easy to maneuver in shops and park by a table in a restaurant without mowing over passersby. Available in Myrtle Beach at The Kangaroo Pouch or online at Amazon.
A stroller organizer like this one from Munchkin are great to store keys, sippy cups or bottles, snack packs, activities, toys, your phone, and wallet when your out & about – I would leave my diaper bag behind occasionally and just take the stroller because I had everything I needed on the back in the organizer. The Kangaroo Pouch in Myrtle Beach has a LOT of organizer options to fit your stroller. This one is available online at Amazon.
