Getting packages in the mail is a big deal in our house. I recently ordered razors from Amazon, and because they were delivered in the mail, Thomas thought they were special, and handed the box to me like it contained a diamond tennis bracelet, and not ridiculously expensive razor blades encased in soap (because using a bar of soap and a razor separately would be way too much effort.) The point is: mail is exciting.
When the box from Hatley arrived and it was a package in the mail for him, the reaction was perfect. “FOR ME?!?” he said as he charged forward to open it. When he pulled out the raincoat, I kind of expected him to lose interest since it wasn’t a toy or a puzzle, but he surprised me by immediately wanting to put it on, but not standing still enough for a proper photo. (It took 3 different photo sessions and the promise of gummy bunnies to get the one photo at the top that isn’t blurry.)
Instead he wanted to run upstairs to show his “people” which includes characters like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Captain Snake, Ernie the Snake, the Knights, Spider Man, and Master Splinter. I listened to him outside of his playroom as he announced his “new raincoat” to the gang and giggled silently.
We have yet to wear the alligator raincoat when it’s actually raining, but he thinks it’s very cool, and it will be a great jacket to wear as a windbreaker when the temperature cools down this fall. The material is a soft, waterproof material – not like a slick raincoat, so it can easily be worn as a jacket, too.
Shop Hatley | Shop Hatley (and the alligator raincoat!) at the Kangaroo Pouch in Myrtle Beach or online at Hatley.com. Hatley kindly sent me the alligator raincoat to review, and I did not make up this story – he really loves the jacket. As always, all opinions are my own and I only share the products I love.
