Well, we’re nearing the end of the 3-6 month stage. Hopefully it won’t take me three months to write this post like it did for me to write the Newborn Instruction Manual for Soon-to-be-Parents.
Blog note tangent: I’ve gotten into using Photoshop and Canva for these collages – I hope you like them. It took me two hours to figure out how to get text to wrap around the pictures, so please marvel at my graphic design skills.
This is such a fun age – lots of smiles, laughs, playing with toys, and fun to take places. She ADORES her big brother, which is so much fun to witness. He makes her laugh big belly laughs. She’s still wearing size 2 diapers (I still love the Honest diapers) – she weighed in around 13 pounds at her 4 month check up visit. Of course, she grew out of size 3-6 months clothing around 3 months, so we’ve been in the 6-9 month section of the closet. She rolls to get places – she has not figured out how to crawl forward but we’re nearly there.
Here are our favorite things – I present – everything you need for baby 3 – 6 months:
Babies explore with their mouths so if it’s close – prepare to have it grabbed, licked, and inserted into mouth. Therefore, it’s smart to keep some teething toys you don’t mind traversing the inside of your baby’s mouth.
Here are our favorites.
Feeding is FUN! We started feeding solids at 5 months. Like everything else, there are all types of varying opinions on when baby should start eating solids. We chose five months because she loves to eat. I tried avocados first. Then bananas. She gobbled them up. My first spit out his first foods for several weeks… not my girl. She is a great eater, and was from the first bite. I’m still nursing and milk is still her main food.
A secure location to feed the baby
We have the Stokke Trip Trap High Chair – a sleekly designed high chair which is also practical – it transforms from a high chair to a toddler chair to a regular chair to even a stepping stool, which will be fun when we cook together. Plus, it blends in with our dining room decor.
We love ours!
Our favorite baby food brand – I love the mix of veggies and fruits in each one. I’ve seen these at Target and the grocery store.
Her current favorite. She loves Plum organics sweet potatoes.
Dishwasher Friendly Bib & Spoon
This thing is cool because you can put the spoon in the silicon part of the bib and roll it up to take it on the go. Also it catches food and you can put it in the dishwasher.
On the go spoon
A spoon in a case so you don’t have to get everything in your diaper bag dirty.
Cheeky Chompers Neckerchew
Ha!!! Clever name. This little bib doubles as a chew toy, making it my new favorite. The triangle on the bottom is a teether. And they can’t drop it when it’s a bib. This could also be considered a toy but it’s a bib so I have it in food.
Make your own baby food
Personally, I think this is fun for about a minute, but some people are really into making baby food. Here’s the thing – you don’t need a special baby food maker. You need a pot that can boil water and a blender. However, this is your chance to convince your husband you need a Vitamix. After looking at all of the priciest baby food makers on the market, a Vitamix will seem like the most practical option. Williams-Sonoma usually has deals on Vitamixes. Also, it makes nutbutter.
DEAL – Currently Vitamix is on Zulily (9/1/15)
Will you ever get a full night’s sleep again? The answer is yes. In the very distant future. Until then, do not let your coffee supply diminish. Just kidding, some babies do sleep through the night. Maybe yours will be one of them. Here are all of our favorite night time baby products.
