The only thing I keep in her crib is her, wrapped in a SleepSack. No blankets, toys, or even crib bumpers. Her crib is naked. There are several reasons for this, however, I actually like it bare. It’s clean. And we have white zip-off sheets and a white crib. Plain against a bright yellow wall.
Baby girl slept like a champ for the first three months – a schedule so predictable I convinced myself I was the baby whisperer. The magic combination was a set night time – 9pm – with nursing and the Halo Swaddle. With her little arms restricted, she slept until 3 or 4am and then right back to sleep until 7 or 8am.
Any new mother would covet this schedule.
This all changed when she started rolling over (much too early) at 3 months. No more swaddle. No more lengthy periods of sleep.
The fact is
I was then reminded of the only thing that is true about baby sleep: the minute you’re used to schedule, it will change. That’s a fact.
So, when swaddling comes to an end, the HALO SleepSack is a great wearable blanket to keep baby covered and warm throughout the night. I still don’t have to keep anything loose in her crib. We just put her in pajamas and zip up the blanket for the night – no need to put other blankets on top in the crib for her to toss off. I also turn on the white noise machine. The sweet designs and light fabrics also make the blankets a very cute option for night night time, equally as important as the function!

Disclosure: HALO sent me the SleepSack for review (thanks!) after I reached out with questions about transitioning and which was the best option in my exhaustive sleep solution research process… they were very helpful and guided me toward the correct size. If you are considering buying one of their products, they have excellent customer service and will answer your questions – a big bonus, if you ask me. I was not compensated in any other way for this post… and y’all know I only review products which I love. And HALO is definitely a brand I love.
