GAME NIGHT! My husband’s former boss regaled him with stories about Game Night, a regular gathering of work friends which involved wine and games. “We’ll have it soon,” he’d say. As a fangirl of both games and wine, I was very excited about this pending get together. Nearly three years later, we have yet to receive the official invitation for Game Night. (Maybe he’ll read this post and finally set the date. Yes, Scott, I’m still waiting. I want to drink Rodney Strong Cab and play The Game of Things because it is hilarious.)
If you’re not waiting for an invitation to Game Night (LUCKY YOU), or perhaps are throwing your own Game Night, here are the best party games to get the shenanigans started:
The Best Party Games
Minute to Win It
Remember the TV show Minute to Win It? You have a minute to complete silly tasks . You could probably research and do these games yourself, or you could just buy the set.
The Game of Things
This is MY FAVORITE game of all time. It’s always hilarious. You get a topic like “things you can do with chocolate” and everyone writes an anonymous response then guesses who said what. You’ll notice the responses tend to get funnier with more wine/beer.
You get a phrase and have to get your team to guess it. This can get loud, and funny. See it in action: Jimmy Fallon, Sofia Vergara, and James Marsden Play Catchphrase. Higgins trying to explain Gangnam Style is amusing, and Sofia’s description of Happy Hour is magnificent.
Personalized Playing Cards for Poker Night
Prank your friends next poker or game night with a funny picture on a deck of cards.
Outdoor Washer Game
As a newlywed, I constructed a washer game with a handsaw and plywood. While we played it often with friends in our backyard with Coors Lite in coozies, I recommend purchasing this set v. constructing one yourself. Also, I think this is more fun than bean bag / cornhole.
Light Up Limbo Set
How low can you go? The Limbo is always comical… but at night time with illuminated poles is even more amusing.
