I will not lose you now, beach bag!
I can have something in my hand and approximately two minutes later, it is gone. Poof! I can no longer remember where I put the thing that was in my hand moments ago. This happens with my glass of water, my phone, keys, iPad, TV remote, the snack I started… I think my brain is scrambled like a brain on drugs, except I’m not on drugs. I just had a baby, and I’ve lost my mind.
It will come back, most likely. We can hope, right?
When the Tile App team reached out to me to consider testing the Tile, a tracking device that you can put on your things to find with your iPhone I said “YES PLEASE I NEED ONE OF THOSE!”
(if you’re suffering from baby brain and need to find your stuff with Tile, too – scroll to the bottom because I’m giving one away!)
Do your kids watch Miles from Tomorrowland? In the first episode, the girl reads the instructions to figure out something new while the boy just starts trying it out without taking the time to read the “how to” manual. I am like the boy. I just dive right in. The Tile App on the phone guided me through the set up and within minutes my Tile was active. Easy.

Hit “find” and the Tile starts beeping.
To try out the Tile, my son and I played hide and seek with it. After round 27, I had to call it quits, but it was a fun game. We hid the Tile and used the iPhone app to find it. The find feature gives you a map location and the Tile starts beeping, making it extremely easy to locate.
Each Tile can be named, and I named mine “keys” because it is going on my keyring. Keys are a biggie that tend to get lost… especially as you’re trying to leave the house with a baby in a carrier, a five year old excited about the destination, and you’re running 10 minutes behind schedule. This is when keys get lost. Having the ability to locate them without running up and down the stairs, trying to remember where you could have set them down while also talking to your five year old and putting a pacifier in the baby’s mouth… Yes, I certainly need this small piece of technology in my life.
You can add other Tiles for different items that you tend to lose like your diaper bag, your wallet, purse, Kindle, iPad, the TV remote, or your camera. It can be adhered to a surface, or it has a loop so you can tie it. I’m going to keep one in my pool / beach bag for the summertime because guess what? I set the thing down and then can’t remember where I left it. This will help me keep track of it this summer.
Last summer, we had a search party go out for lost car keys, which were discovered in my friend’s beach bag. Not this summer. I’ll just activate the search function, listen for the beeping, and will be on my way. I’m certain to use this frequently this summer as I will be at the pool with a baby and a five year old, so brain function will be 99% limited to saying “no” to Push Up Pops 45 times and “yes” one time, ensuring that my little swimmer is staying in the safe end of the pool, applying sunscreen, finding a spot in the shade for my baby with plenty of visibility of the pool for my oldest, and of course, responding courteously to all of the compliments about my adorable children from friends. This will leave no room for keeping track of all of the pool bag and keys that are sure to be set down and promptly forgotten.

Want to try Tile App out for yourself? Comment below or on my Facebook page or Instagram and tell me what item you always lose that the Tile will be able to find! I’m curious to see what are the items everyone else misplaces!
I’ll choose a random winner from the comments on Friday!
Good luck!

My phone, lol. I’m always losing my phone! And of course my keys. As in, right now using my spare key because I can’t find my whole set….I hope this thing had an app for androids!
Hatton Gravely says
You’re in luck – it DOES work with Androids! Maybe you should install the app on your husband’s phone so you can locate YOUR phone. ha!
Katie says
TV remote! Between the hubs and the boy, I can’t ever find the remote so I’m stuck watching SportsCenter or Rescue Bots.
Hatton Gravely says
hahaha – we have THREE remotes. One for the Roku, one for the Apple TV and one for the TV. one is always missing!
Sarah says
Love your blog 🙂 Do the sell these in bulk? We need one for the keys (both sets) and my purse and the diaper bag too!!
Hatton Gravely says
Thank you! You can have up to 8 of them on the app so you’d be covered 🙂

Definitely my phone! But my keys are a close runner-up. I love your idea about having my hubby do the locater for my phone! GENIUS!!! And you’re 1000% correct about Baby Brain–but can we just re-name it “Mommy Brain”? My kids are too big to be called babies (even if they’ll always be my babies) and I seriously still suffer from this daily. Thank God for mind-reader husbands!
Hatton Gravely says
It probably should be renamed “mommy brain” but since I have a baby, I’m blaming her instead of me. ha!
Meygan Leichty says
This is awesome! I need one for my keys, one for my cat and one for my purse/diaper bag.haha
Hatton Gravely says
Meygan, the beeping would drive your cat bonkers but would probably be very entertaining!!! Ha.

I always lose my phone and keys! That’s what I generally need most of the time. My mom should have one for her Kindle.. she’s always misplacing it!
Lauren says
It’s a toss up between my keys, phone and sunglasses. Though my mind is lost often as well

I’m always looking for my keys & phone!!
Wish I would of had this a few years ago, instead I had to actually have my car towed to the dealership to get a set of keys made! Where was my spare set….I had already lost those too! 🙁
I’ve been waiting for this miracle for years…..thank you!
